Fighter gets an evasive attack skill that gets damage boosted when dodging an attack. Mystic Knight gets a whole host of elemental augments that makes the shield hurt enemies when they attack. If you want Sword and Ranged, go Assassin. If you want Shield and Ranged, go Mystic Knight. If you want Sword and Shield and Ranged, you're going to have to switch weapons around either way.
