Not sure if it counts as the same effect or not, since the weapon only affects normal attacks while Apt Pupil affects persona attacks as well... I was wanting to use Apt pupil in conjunction with a Moon fused critical weapon for easy knockdowns. But if they don't stack, I could easily use that slot for something else.

Only the Fusion Spell is gone. But fusing Personas with others skills is tough. I was lucky to have a Jack Frost with Dia Skill intact after fusing Nekotama + Asparas(lvl 5 with all available skills) + Fairy. When you talk to Fuuka before going to Tartarus, check the formation of Tartarus. If it's "unstable", "rare" floors (like floors of only red Shadows, Gold Hands, or no-enemy floors) have a much higher chance of appearing.
